I’m doing another outdoor exhibit with the AGSF this Sunday, May 24 at Marina Green. Come visit me if you can! I won’t be doing another AGSF show until June 27, as I’ve got enough to do with the end of the school year, Robogames and the Marin Art Festival.

My first show with the Artists Guild of San Francisco was this last Saturday, at Yerba Buena Gardens. I think overall it went pretty well!

Loading and unloading will take me awhile to get the routine of, but Gilbert’s offered to assist me for at least the first few shows I do. He was a huge help this time for sure.

Setting up seems like the most intimidating part to me. This show had 7 or 8 artists, but I know several of them have more, and having to negotiate for space seems difficult at times. I still haven’t figured out how best to show my stuff, but I am sure I’ll get better at it with practice. All the artists were very friendly and helpful, and understanding of my newness.

I met a lot of people and had excellent conversations with several of them. It was a really useful exercise, to be obliged to talk to people about my art. I’m not always good at that, so I am trying to take advantage of these opportunities. I’m told this show was a little slow, traffic-wise, which was probably good for my first time. Didn’t sell anything but I did make some good contacts.

Also, several friends stopped by to visit, which was heartening. Thanks everyone!

I have a list of different things I’ll need to bring for my next show, stuff that didn’t occur to me. One of them is a better mailing list form (I just brought a notebook this time to write people’s info down in, but I’d like something a little more formal). Also: paperweights or a document holder. It gets windy out there. And art gets dusty - I had not thought about that.

I’ve got another AGSF show coming up Saturday May 16 at Washington Square, and possibly also May 23 at Huntington Park, so come visit me there if you can!
