Hi Suzanna. I am not sure how much you can tell from my not-great-quality cell phone camera. I always work on panel. I embroidered a large piece of patterned fabric (wrong-side out, in this case), including several areas where I did button-hole stitch in circles of various sizes and then carefully cut out the middle, to make “windows” in the fabric. Before I glue the fabric down with acrylic medium, I paint on the panel where the windows appear (some of these windows have gold leaf, some antique papers, some just paint). Once the fabric is attached to the panel, I applied layers of medium (either thin layers with a brush or thicker with a palette knife) and paint. The ground here is garnet gel applied with a knife. I let the painting dry between layers, since it is acrylic. I highlight some of the pattern by painting over it with a detail brush. The drips were done with liquid acrylics mixed with very thin medium or just water.
Wow, Heather. That has an incredible affect! Can you describe you process a little?
